The Conference on “Internationalization of Higher Education: Trends, Forecasts and Scenarios for the Future” was held in Moscow on April 28, 2010 at the initiative of the National Training Foundation with support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
The aim of the conference was to debate the challenges national education systems face in the context of globalization and internationalization.
The conference sought to discuss the following themes:
- internationalization of higher education in the context of globalization: trends and forecasts;
- national strategies, policies and approaches to internationalization of higher education; the role of new actors in the global international educational landscape;
- best practices in governing the process of internationalization at different levels: international, national and institutional;
- possible scenarios for promoting internationalization in higher education in Russia.
The speakers and discussants of the conference included representatives of Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation, Federal Institution of Educational Development, National Training Foundation, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, Agencies for Internationalization of Education, Russian and foreign universities.
The conference participants expressed hope that such regular discussions will continue in the future and adopted recommendations for further actions.
