Following the talks in Washington (24 June 2010), Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama issued a number of joint statements.

Following the Russian – American talks in Washington (24 June 2010) the 10 joint statements were issued by Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama.

The Joint Statement on People-to-People Connection and the Joint Statement on a Strategic Partnership in Innovation are of great importance.     

The Joint Statement on People-to-People Connection stresses: «the U.S.-Russia Presidential Commission has helped to significantly expand youth sports exchanges, university partnerships and cultural programs, both in the United States and in Russia.  Broadening of contacts among non-governmental organizations and increasing collaboration on timely issues for Americans and Russians have been two priorities of the Commission’s work".

The U.S.-Russia Summit “Civil Society to Civil Society” was held (22-24 June 2010) in the run up to the Russian – American talks.

Irina Arzhanova, Executive Director of the National Training Foundation participated in the Higher Education Group of the Summit   

Following the Summit the recommendations for the U.S.-Russia Presidential Commission were worked out.
